MACHETE BEER HOUSE

NATIONAL CITY, CALIFORNIA

Machete Beer House is a beloved craft beer destination in National City, known for showcasing breweries from across Mexico. I collaborated with Machete on a variety of projects, including event merchandise, promotional graphics, and commemorative products that celebrated the beer community.

BEER WITHOUT BORDERS

MERCHANDISE DESIGN, MADE WITH ADOBE ILLUSTRATOR (2018)

Beers Without Borders is an event celebrating craft breweries from Mexico. For the fourth edition, Machete commissioned me for a commemorative pint glass to mark the occasion.

Inspired by the eagle from the Mexican flag, I incorporated a machete as a subtle reference to Machete’s branding while keeping the design bold and easy to recognize. The finished illustration was printed onto commemorative glassware that reflected both the event and Machete's identity.

CHINGONAS DRINK CRAFT

T-SHIRT DESIGN, MADE IN ILLUSTRATOR (2022)

Each year, Machete celebrates International Women's Day with an event called Chingonas Drink Craft. During the event, Machete raises funds for Hermanitas de MANA, a nonprofit organization that mentors and supports Latina youth by selling event merchandise.

The finished product became part of Machete’s fundraising efforts with all proceeds supporting Hermanitas de MANA and its work within the community.

BEHIND THE WORK

Machete asked me to create a design that felt welcoming to everyone while still celebrating women. I combined hand-drawn typography with daisies and beer hops to create artwork that balanced softness with the energy of the event. The final design included graphics for both the front and back of the shirt.

STRAIGHT OUTTA SPACE

FLYER ILLUSTRATION, PEN ON PAPER AND PHOTOSHOP (2018)

Machete partnered with Ninkasi Brewing Company for a collaborative event and needed promotional artwork that brought both brands together while leaving space for event details.

Combining hand-drawn illustration with typography allowed the final design to feel expressive while remaining flexible enough for social media promotion. The completed flyer blended both brands and provided a distinctive visual identity for the event across social media.

BEHIND THE WORK

For the event flyer, I played off Ninkasi’s beer can label for Ground Control and incorporated Machete’s physical location. I sketched the concept by hand and then refined the artwork digitally in Photoshop.
